Mobile sites not useable on mobile devices

General info

Screen-Shots: Device was correctly configured and using "Standard" layout.

A1

Mobilkom Austria provides a lot of services which also can be used on mobile devices. But theses services only work on old PPC2002 devices and not on WM2003 and WM2005:

Audi AG

I am reading the mobile Audi newsletter (AvangGo) which works fine. Today (2007-01-08) I found an article about Audi’s Pocket Guide:

This looked fine and so I used PIE to go to www.audi.de/pocket-guide. On this site you will be redirected to www.audi.de/audi/de/de2/pocket-guide with following:

Herold

On the mobile version of T-Mobile site is a link to herold’s mobile site:

Microsoft Mobile

On a T-Mobile MDA II’s default PIE page is link to "microsoft mobile":

Telefon-Treff

A newsgroup for mobile phone users. They also provide a mobile sub-domain but this is not optimized for WM devices:

As you can do for all other (desktop) pages you can use the "One Column" layout which renders desktop pages optimized for small screens. But this is not a good solution since the same data is transferred to the mobile client. This may take a while with GPRS connection and may causes extra costs for you:

To be continued

It seems to be very difficult to provide PDA optimized pages… But it isn’t…
